"Seeing and Hearing" Towards the most comprehensive sensory rehabilitation

The "Seeing and Hearing" Carnot Institute groups together the world's leading laboratories in the field of vision and audition, privileged partners of the industry.

Presentation

Its mission…

To speed up the technological transfert for:

  • Health products,
  • Clinical Investigation (imaging, telemedicine, diagnosis, surgery, etc.),
  • Sensory rehabilitation (artificial retina, cochlear implants, augmented reality, etc.),
  • Daily life (intelligent devices, smart home and smart environment for the visually impaired people, services, etc.)

…for the benefits of the patients

Its Strengths…

• The Vision Institute:
The Vision Institute is an unique site, in the heart of Paris, entirely dedicated to translational research in Vision and visual impairment, where basic academic research (18 international teams), clinical investigation and industrial development (more than 10 international companies) are collocated.

• Medicen:
The future of our projects is tightly linked to the French competitivity network of technologies for health and new therapies called Medicen. Our institute is a key player of the neuropathology division of Medicen and should lead the constitution of a real Neuropole.

• The « hearing and seeing foundation »:
This foundation, dedicated to joining efforts in basic and clinical research in sensory diseases, hosts our Carnot Institute, fostering the most integrated and comprehensive approach.

…an international visibility

Presentation:

Our research and development activities are focused onto retinal neuroprotection (screening for new therapeutic molecules, delivery, clinical trials), sensory readaptation (artificial retina, cohlear implants, augmented reality, new clever glasses), innovation in clinical investigation (imaging, diagnosis, surgery, for the retina) and new solutions for the visually impaired people (smart-home, smart-city, accessible services).

Strengths:

We offer:
 - A Complete platform for functional retinal investigation (for human being and small animal), unique in Europe,
- A High content screening device, for the discovery of new therapeutical molecules and molecules with new physiological benefits,
- The unique Pasteur Institute's plateform, for the production of recombinant therapeutical molecules

- The imaging plateform

We also are recognised as :

  • The National Coordinator Center for the clinical trials in the vision field
  • The European leader of the TREATRUSH and RdCVF programs
  • A world class non-US Referent Medical Center for « The Foundation Fighting Blindness »
  • A Professional center with respect with industrial partnerships and practices (en route towards an ISO 9001 certification)
